Jadea Collin: “Self-confidence will go a long way”

June 9, 2026

As the international spotlight shines on Canada, Jadea Collin answers some key questions about her recent CANW20 experience.

A testament to her ability, Jadea Collin has been part of Canada’s U20 squads since 2023 when she played seven games at just 17 years old.

She scored Canada’s first goal at the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U20 Championship in Costa Rica, and went on to be named in the tournament’s Best XI after she helped her country win the competition for the third time.

Earlier this year, she was called up to the CANW20 roster once again, ahead of the squad’s return to Costa Rica for an April camp and two international friendlies.

This selection came after Collin signed for her third OPL club, Scrosoppi. Her Pro-Am career began in 2022 with NDC Ontario, who she represented in three consecutive seasons, before switching to Alliance United and now the newly-promoted SFC.

How has playing in OPL helped to equip you for international selection?

Playing in OPL has helped prepare me for the CANW20 environment by improving my decision-making and overall confidence on the field.

What are the types of things you did at the recent CANW20 camp?

At the recent CANW20 camp, on the field I took part in high-intensity training sessions, tactical work, and small-sided games that helped improve communication and chemistry.

Off the field, we focused on recovery, team bonding, scouting meetings, and doing some work with a mental performance coach.

What are your biggest takeaways from the CANW20 camp, and how will those learnings help you moving forward?

The significance of being consistent, professional, and paying attention to details were my most important learnings. The experience showed me how crucial the small things can be, on and off the field.

Moving forward, I am going to apply what I have learned from the experience in order to become better at my game.

Looking back to the 2025 CONCACAF Women's U20 Championship, what are the memories that have stayed with you?

What really stayed with me from that time was being able to represent my nation among some of the most talented players, who are also some of my best friends.

A memory that I’ll never forget is the night before our game against the USA, we all came together and signed our names in a player contract to promise to work our hardest and stay together always in order to win the game, and we did!

How proud are you of your soccer achievements so far, and what are your upcoming goals?

I’m very proud, however I know there’s still so much more I want to accomplish. My goals for this year are to continue developing as a player, become more consistent in all areas of my game, and help my team succeed in the 2026 U20 World Cup in September.

What’s your message to younger players aspiring to play for their national team?

My message would be to understand that there will be hurdles and situations that won’t be easy for you, but consistency, self-discipline, and self-confidence will go a long way.

And lastly, why should girls get into soccer?

Soccer teaches so many valuable life skills both on and off the field. It builds confidence, discipline, teamwork, and resilience while also creating friendships and unforgettable experiences.
