Scrosoppi’s High-Performance Summer Camp players had a special visitor on Friday, August 3 as the Secretary of State (Sport), Adam van Koeverden, came down to the St. Francis Xavier turf field.

Van Koeverden visited SFC to meet staff and players and to thank the club for its participation in the Government of Canada’s new sports funding program, which aligns with the club’s mission to positively impact the sports scene in the Milton and Halton region.

In a press release at the end of April, the government pledged to invest $755 million into sport over the next five years. Its impact will range from bringing world-class sporting events to this country and supporting high-level athletes, with the largest portion of funds going towards helping sports organizations increase youth participation.

During his time with SFC, Van Koeverden – a former Olympic champion canoeist – also ran a shooting competition at the Summer camp. The players were divided into three age groups and the winners were awarded a FIFA World Cup soccer ball in Canadian colours.

Scrosoppi Football Club would like to thank Van Koeverden for coming down to visit and supporting sports participation here in Milton and across Canada.
