Your guide to the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup

September 2, 2026

Here's everything Scrosoppi fans need to know about the upcoming World Cup – including two familiar names on the Canadian roster.

Tournament overview

The 12th FIFA U20 Women's World Cup is taking place in Poland from September 5 to 27, with 24 nations competing across four host cities: Łódź, Katowice, Bielsko-Biała and Sosnowiec.

The teams are split into six groups, with the top two from each group advancing automatically to the Round of 16, joined by the four best third-placed finishers.

From there it's straight knockout football through to the final in Łódź on September 27. Defending champions Korea DPR return to protect their crown, while hosts Poland make their first appearance at a FIFA women's tournament on home soil.

Canada's matches

Head coach Cindy Tye's side have arrived in Poland one year on from winning their third Concacaf U20 title, and their first since 2008, after a dramatic extra-time win over Mexico in the final.

Drawn into Group B, Canada will need to pass some tough tests to progress from the World Cup group stage.

September 5: Canada vs England, 12pm ET (Stadion Miejski, Bielsko-Biała)

September 8: Canada vs Brazil, 9am ET (Stadion Miejski, Bielsko-Biała)

September 11: Canada vs Tanzania, 9am ET (Stadion Miejski, Bielsko-Biała)

Canada reached the Round of 16 at the last edition in Colombia before falling to Spain, and with a squad blending collegiate and Ontario Premier League talent with professional experience – including players at AFC Toronto, Vancouver Rise FC and Sporting CP – this group will be looking to go further. Supporting Scrosoppi’s stars

Two names on the Canadian roster will mean a little extra to the Scrosoppi community this September.

Noelle Henning, a goalkeeper out of Milton, and Jadea Collin, a midfielder from Mississauga, have both earned their place in the 21-player squad heading to Poland after representing Scrosoppi in the 2026 Ontario Premier League.

The duo made 14 appearances between them this season – SFC’s first in the top flight of Ontario’s Pro-Am soccer pyramid – as the club finished sixth in the 10-team standings.

For SFC academy players and families, it’s proof that players developing right here in the Halton region can reach the very top of the youth international game. We wish Noelle and Jadea all the best in the upcoming tournament. Please click here to read more about their stories.
